Looking for a Junior User Interface Designer

Yu Centrik, a leading UX firm based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is looking for a Junior User Interface Designer to help our clients build products that meet their needs and surpass users’ expectations. Typical projects are related to the following platforms: web, interactive TV, mobile devices, productivity software and interactive voice systems.

Skills / Requirements

Skills in design: autonomy in carrying out projects directly with clients;
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and to clearly communicate ideas and concepts;
Strong ability in producing highly detailed deliverables;
Enthusiastic, passionate, dynamic, and concerned for the quality of user experiences.

Experience

Applicants must have 1 year of experience in designing user interface for web, mobile or software platforms;
Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (such as Axure);
Capable of promoting your ideas and interface concepts through visual communications, from hand sketching to rich graphic design;
Graduate-level in a field in relation with interaction design;
Good knowledge of English and French (French an asset, if not, must be ready to learn).

User Experience Designer

The User Experience Designer is in charge of leading diverse projects that include activities like user research, analysis, strategy, information architecture, interface design and usability testing. Typical projects are related to the following platforms: web, interactive TV, mobile devices, productivity software and interactive voice systems.

Skills / Requirements
•    Extremely strong leadership skills in design: autonomy in carrying out projects directly with clients; comfortable presenting deliverables and dealing with feedback. Proven track record in unique design solutions.
•    Operational knowledge of user-centred design methodology;
•    Ability to understand business objectives and user needs and to drive decisions to produce outstanding results.
•    Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and to clearly communicate ideas and concepts; comfortable collaborating with external partners and freelancers.
•    Strong ability in producing highly detailed deliverables.
•    Demonstrated capacity to make presentations in front of big audiences.
•    Enthusiastic, passionate, dynamic, and concerned for the quality of user experiences.

Experience
•    Applicants must have 4+ years of experience in user research and interface design in web, mobile and software platforms (knowledge in voice interfaces and accessibility an asset)
•    Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (such as, but absolutely not limited to, Axure, Visio, Justinmind)
•    Capable of promoting your ideas and interface concepts through visual communications, from hand sketching to rich graphic design (through Illustrator and Photoshop)
•    Graduate-level degree in design, HCI, cognitive ergonomics and / or cognitive science (software design, industrial design, cognitive psychology) is an advantage
•    Fluent in English
•    Good knowledge of French an asset (if not, must be ready to learn).
